A web site dedicated to Tom Harrington's family containing news, gossip and tales of the unexpected. Fun for all. If everone adds a few lines of news and information - others will look at this site and it will spiral into a web log of the Harringtons! It is so easy to add comments even I can do it. Tom

Michael's Grand day out at Dewsbury Hospital

I finally had the operation. My chronically infected toe nail was removed today at 3.45 pm. I knew some of you would be eager to know what they did to me so in the interests of educational voyeurism and also to satisfy Annmarie and Carin's lust for gore, I took some pictures as the nail was removed. I managed to take these under great pain, duress and stress so I expect all of you to have a look at them - especially Siobhan, Annmarie and Victoria. Click here

Mum was kind enough to take me and I managed to get her a seat next to me in the operation room but she did a runner when the Doctor took out the big needle before anything had even happened! Mummy Harrington you are a wimp.

The six inch needle was the worst part of my ordeal.
"You may feel some discomfort" he said.
This was a MAJOR understatement!

It was like a sharp sting starting on the outside and continuing slowly through the toe all the way to the other side. I focused on deep breathing and clenching my fists as I resisted the urge to scream. After a few long seconds the needle was withdrawn and I began to relax and calm myself. Then he told me he had to do the other side of the toe. However, I knew what to expect and boldly said (after spitting out the piece of wood) "go for it!".
This time I made him pose for a picture, he was slightly amused by masochistic tendencies which he put down to my strict Catholic upbringing.

The rest was plain sailing as the toe went numb and all his pulling, digging, scraping and cutting did not affect me in the slightest - although the pain is now hitting me as the anaesthetic wears off. But fear not Rizwana is on M1 as I type!

Let me know what you think of the pictures and how brave you think I am !

Love M
